I’ve been hurt at work. What do I do?
This can be a very stressful and difficult time.
First and foremost, seek medical attention as soon as possible. You may go to the hospital or your primary care physician as you see fit.
Inform your employer of your injury or illness as soon as possible. It is best to inform your employer or supervisor through written means (e.g. email or a letter where you retain a copy) so you have physical proof.
Only after you have taken care of your immediate needs (informing your employer and getting medical help), file a claim and contact a lawyer.
